Here’s my number 1 tip for those folk that work from home (even sometimes). I’m lucky and have NBN. But for those on ADSL still (and waiting) it can be really frustrating. Waiting for stuff to download, and especially any uploading you have to do – it’s either super slow or doesn’t work.
use USB and connect your phone to your PC/mac, and use your mobile data.
Doing this when you have a deadline, or lots of uploads really helps. 4G is about 100x faster in uploads vs a crappy ADSL.
For example, a youtube upload can take 24-48 hours on a poor adsl connection, and its 1-2 minutes on my NBN, and about the same on 4G.
Even cable internet is slow when you compare the upload speeds – so it can help there as well.
Sometimes getting rid of adsl and the phone line, and switching to a 4g modem will make sense.
well if you use it for uploads, or when you’re on a deadline , and add a bit more data to your existing phone plan it might not be too bad. Uploading a large youtube might be 100Mb, and you could do 10 of them on 1Gb of data on your phone plan.
Beware: these 2 plans are speed limited, back to ADSL speeds, so whilst they seem cheap, they won’t makes things much faster than ADSL.
Plus here is an optus plan, $80/month, 200gb 4G. http://www.optus.com.au/shop/broadband/home-wireless-broadband/plans#Plans. Just be aware this plan is speed restricted, from Optus “In metropolitan areas where there is 2300 MHz coverage at your nominated address, download and upload speeds of up to 12/1Mbps are available. If 2300 MHz coverage is not available at your nominated address, download and upload speeds of up to 5/1 Mbps are available.”
check these guys out http://www.vividwireless.com.au/ also , $89 a month for Unlimited 4G – they are limited speed as well “Vividwireless’ LTE internet service provides up to 10mbps download and 1 mbps upload”.
